Every American for himself.

Earlier this week, our new president inspired us with an exhortation to embrace some of the values that helped America survive tough times to become a beacon of hope and freedom: hard work, honesty, courage, fairness, tolerance, patriotism. But I'd like to remind you that there's another characteristic that has helped ensure our survival over the centuries: our willingness to throw elbows.

  1. You know it took hours for that ship to go down. I would have been fashioning my own vessel from objects on board. Luckily we had a project in arch. school where we had to design and build a boat with 2 days and $100. Then we had to race them. Of course you don't have 2 days on the Titanic but I would have made it work.

That failing I WOULD have been on one of those life boats. I try to be polite, but there's no way this bitch would have been going down with the ship.

[ignoring of course the real life circumstance of me being brown and therefore having about a 0% chance of getting on one of the life boats]

  2. I believe some researchers who are still exploring the wreckage of the Titanic announced that it went down even faster than previously though - as in less than half an hour.

  3. Well Ayse you've ruined the entire movie for me! Good thing I hated it in the first place.

Although it wouldn't take me long to craft a frame out of pipe-fittings and then wrap it in a skin of some sort I can imagine that 30 minutes would not be enough time to even realise what was going on.
